Last month we worked with the GPT Group to capture all the excitement of the Highpoint Close Up event, a festival of beauty, skincare and wellness held between the 20th-29th May at Highpoint Shopping Centre.
There were multiple activations throughout the centre, from demos and masterclasses to Q&As and giveaways – we knew we had two busy weekends ahead, and we came prepared.
The brief
Our client wanted to maximise all the content available to them from this highly interactive and dynamic event, and so we were able to flex all of our service offerings: photography, video and livestreaming – a real triple-threat!
Along with photography and video highlight reels, we needed to livestream the custom stage on one of the days to Highpoint’s social media accounts. No sweat! (…ok, a little).
Livestreaming to socials: a tricky business
The stage at the festival was custom built for watch-and-learn demos by makeup and styling artists, (guests included the writer/speaker/makeup artist Maria Thattil) with a classroom-style seated area that catered for around 20 people.
On Saturday 28th May we livestreamed three sessions to Facebook and Instagram simultaneously. Instagram’s stream needed to be a 9:16 portrait, while Facebook was the standard landscape 16:9.
To livestream from a professional camera to social media accounts, we had to use a third-party app. This involved research and testing in the lead-up to the event, and our livestream technician (in addition to our photographer and videographer) was present on the day to make sure the process was seamless.
The result? Content for days
After two busy weekends of filming and photographing, we edited and produced:
- A 60-second highlight video from each weekend
- Additional 15-second and 30-second showreel edits for use on social media
- Approximately 180 photos from each day
Phew! We had a great time and hope to work with GPT Group again on another of their fantastic events.
