We were thrilled to work behind the scenes in the lead up to the Victorian Learn Local Awards, which were presented at a gala event on Friday 24 November. The awards celebrate great individual success stories, leadership, programs, innovation and collaboration in the Learn Local sector.
Our role was to capture footage and photos of all 25 finalists throughout the state – and this is what was involved.
The brief
We would be creating 8 category videos to screen at the gala, each about 90 seconds long, that would include all finalists. Each video would be comprised of b-roll footage, and part of video production included creating titles, adding captions and arranging voiceovers.
Along with footage, we also needed to capture individual photographs of each finalist.
A matter of planning
Since the finalists were spread throughout Victoria, including regional areas, we assigned two co-ordinators to the project to schedule filming sessions for each finalist, allowing a maximum two hours at each location for efficiency. Whenever possible, we also scheduled multiple sessions in a single day dependent on location proximity.
Other aspects of our project management service included:
- A planning meeting with the client
- General administrative tasks
- Providing briefing and coordination for the videographers/photographers.
- Continuously monitor the project's progress and furnish the client with weekly updates
The final result
We delivered 8 professionally edited category videos to the client, which included licence-free music, along with 8–10 edited photos of each finalist.
The videos were well received on the night; their inspirational tone added to the meaning behind each award, succinctly capturing why that finalist was chosen for their respective category.
