We always love working with Highpoint Shopping Centre, and this time was no different!
The Lunar New Year fell on January 29th this year, and 2025 marks the Year of the Snake. We were back at Highpoint in anticipation of the lead up to the celebrations, filming retailer vox pops for the centre’s socials.
The brief
We needed to create 30-second portrait videos for each of the following three retailers: Koko Black, Forever New and Chikita.
The objective was to entice shoppers to visit as part of their Lunar New Year preparation and celebrations, and create an atmosphere of festivity about the centre.
Filming for socials
As the videos were ultimately going to sit on social media, we knew they needed to be snappy, visually appealing and easy to consume.
We used a mix of vox pops (on-the-spot interviews) of retail team members within their store, combined with b-roll footage. With questions being asked off camera, we recorded the team members speaking in a natural, conversational style, which is much more engaging on social media than reading off a script.
Only one videographer and a two-hour time slot was needed to capture everything required for the final videos – using a single camera, lapel mic kit and portable light – allowing for an easy and seamless experience for the retailers involved.
The results
In our editing process, we used cuts from the b-roll footage to complement the footage and audio of the team member speaking, creating an engaging storytelling experience for users.
Final production also included adding license-free music, client-branded graphics and captions to the videos to make sure they were insta-ready.
